Tea Rota

DEAR MEMBER

TEA ROTA

To quote the famous words of well known dentist “times are hard”. Consequently we are looking for as many volunteer as possible this year to prepare the teas to ensure that the Club’s finances are in a much healthier state at the end of this season.

The task involves shopping for all the ingredients (bread, fillings, cakes etc), preparing sandwiches, brew the tea and serving on Saturday and Sunday. For the initiated guidelines as to ingredients and quantities can be made available. For non-league games it would be possible to make the tea and players will serve and clean up. The club will of course reimburse the costs of the ingredients.

If you can assist please advise me of the dates most suitable; you can ring me and book a slot (Mobile 07956 182 497 or 020 8558 3637) or e-mail me at ajitjethwa@aol.com. Any assistance you can give even if it just one tea duty it would be greatly appreciated.

All Saturday home games start at 1:00 p.m. so teas would be required between 3:30 – 4:00 p.m.

Sunday Home games up to 17 August 2008 start at 2:00 p.m so teas would normally be required between 4:30 – 5:00 p.m. There after the games start at 1:00 p.m. so teas would be required between 4:00 – 4:30 p.m.

Thanking you in anticipation

Yours sincerely

Ajit Jethwa

Dear Parent/Guardian

With the new season almost upon us, registration for the Colts’ section will be starting soon.

Firstly, though, some news. Wendy Christodoulou takes over from Geanna Kilpatrick as Welfare Officer. We wish her well in her new role. The club is also building a website at present. The address is:
http://woodfordgreencc.hitscricket.com

Please visit the website and have a look. Also feedback at this stage to Jonathan Fraser or myself will be gratefully received. We will look to the website as hub of news, events, fixtures and results during the coming season.

Now on to registration.

REGISTRATION: This will take place on Thursday 24th April from 6.00 until 8.30pm at the cricket club on “The Green”. During this time, there will be an introductory training session for the U11 and U13 colts. This Club Night is an important part of the preparation for the new season, and we ask that everyone try to be there from Under 11s to Under 16s players and parents. The bar will of course be open!

REGISTRATION/TRAINING FEE:

The registration and training fee for this year is as follows:

Under 11s - £50 (subject to matches)
Under 13s - £100.
Under 15s/16s - £100

This fee includes for around 19 Thursday night training sessions for U11/13s and all games where applicable. For the U15/16s this includes for around 18 net sessions. The fee also includes for all games where applicable (except for U16 Match Play fee and teas where appropriate). This, I’m sure you will agree, is tremendous value for money at about £4 per training session/game.

On the night each colt will receive a WGCC Fixture Card. If for any reason you do not receive a card please speak to the Colts Secretary or Sheila Baker. Please note that the wearing of cricket helmets is now compulsory.

NEW JUNIOR MEMBERS: To register your child to play for Woodford Green Cricket Club, please fill in the enclosed form and bring it along on the 24th. Please bring with you a copy of your child’s birth certificate, together with the registration fee.

EXISTING JUNIOR MEMBERS: Please re-register your child on the 24th. We will ask you to check details on your form and make any changes (e.g. phone numbers/email address). Please bring the registration fee.

ADULT/FAMILY MEMBERSHIP: For parents/guardians that have a child/children registered as junior members, you are eligible to apply for family (i.e. non-playing) membership for just £25 (annual sub). There will be a £5 joining fee for new members. The Colts Secretary will be happy to act as proposer and Sheila Baker will second the applications. New applications for membership are warmly welcomed and forms are enclosed, which you may either send to Sheila Baker by post or bring on the 24th.

If you cannot make the 24th for any reason, please phone Ian Kilpatrick on 020 82152598 to organise your child’s registration.

MATCH FEES: Anyone who plays in the U16 Essex Match Play and in any adult games will be required to bring with them a £4 MATCH FEE (correct at time of writing). This covers the cost of the Tea provided, as well as the purchase of high quality cricket balls required for these competitions. For all other Colt’s games there is no extra fee.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY: U16 and U15 out door training starts in early May (date to be confirmed) at Loughton CC nets between 6.30 until 8.00pm Younger age groups and registration for all starts on Thursday 24th April on the Green.

SECOND HAND CRICKET CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT: We ask you to bring any grown-out-of cricket whites/pads/etc to the club on Thursdays which we will organise to sell to make a small profit for the club.

Don’t forget that there are adults matches on Saturdays and Sundays to which you are warmly invited to watch and support the teams.

Colts nets are being held at Forest School on Wednesdays 7–8 pm for Under 13’s and 8-9 for under15’s & 16’s Contact Ian Kilpatrick on 0208 215 2598 or 07931546525 for further details.

BAR ROTA:
As the bar is our main source of revenue it is vital that all members, in particular the playing members, help out as much as they can. During the season we will be looking for the bar to be staffed by players working on a rota system. Barry Green will be looking for volunteers to help run the bar. This will entail locking up, cashing in and ensuring that the place is left in a tidy state after closing time. Lack of volunteers will mean having to pay some one to run the bar and this will erode our revenue. Players who can not or DO NOT want to undertake the bar duty can opt out by making a one off payment of £25.00.

TEAS: We will also need volunteers to prepare the teas both for Saturday and Sunday games. If you can help please contact Ajit Jethwa on 0208 558 3637 or 07956 182 497.
